The popular cut through that allows motorists to forego the final stretch of Airport Road and most of Post Road on the way towards the Route 37 on-ramp has finally been blocked, after a resolution from the Warwick City Council addressing the issue passed unanimously in March. The resolution, put forth by Ward 3 Councilman Timothy Howe, utilized data collected via a traffic study and cited safety and road condition issues as the reasoning behind the creation of an "island," as pictured, which allows traffic to pass only one way through on Evergreen Avenue, and restricts access to people attempting to utilize the road as a shortcut. Businesses along Evergreen and Pavilion Avenues had raised concerns as to the impact the restriction would have on their traffic, but to no avail. (Warwick Beacon photo)
