When Ward 5 Councilman Ed Ladouceur got the call Tuesday morning that D’Ambra Construction was working on installing a crosswalk on Sandy Lane near St. Kevin Church, he rushed out to see it for himself. In response to a request from St. Kevin parishioners living across from the church and in particular a legally blind man who attends mass daily, Ladouceur with the endorsement of Pastor Fr. Robert Marciano first asked for the crosswalk in 2018. The administration’s immediate response was that there is crosswalk albeit some distance to the east of the church. It looked like it wouldn’t happen. Not having been notified by the Picozzi administration, Ladouceur doesn’t know how this has suddenly come about. Is this part of $200,000 in federal funding allocated to fulfill requests of each council member? It doesn’t matter to Ladouceur. “I’m a happy councilman now,” he said. (Warwick Beacon photo)
