The Apponaug Area Improvement Association scholarship committee has announced the winners of their 2013 scholarship awards. The awards totaled $2,000, with funds being raised from donations, the Taste of Apponaug event and Music for a Summer Night series. All this year’s recipients are Toll Gate High school students. They are, from left: Victoria Lanoue of Greeley Avenue, who will be attending Sacred Heart University to study veterinary medicine; Brendan Barbato of Jeri-lynn Circle, who will attend Providence College to major in accounting and business; and Jessica Brosnahan, of Vaughn Avenue, who will enroll in CCRI before attending Franklin Pierce to study secondary education.
