The 15th annual Scott Carlson Memorial Road Race was a success as nearly 500 people from the tri-state area came out on a beautiful Saturday morning to participate. The 5k course moved through Goddard Memorial Park, starting and finishing by the beach.
The winner, Brian Doyle, 22, from Swansea, Massachusetts, finished in 15:08, running a 4:52 mile.
Doyle beat out the second runner up, William Sanders by almost 10 seconds, but did not beat the standing record of 14:09.
The top female was Kailin Collins, 28 from Cambridge Massachusetts, with a time of 18:03, which also didn’t beat the record of 16:44.
Altogether the race raised more than $50,000 for the ALS Association, Rhode Island Chapter.
