Indeed there’s reason to celebrate when a single scout achieves the top rank in scouting –that of Eagle. Five Scouts from Troop 4 Gaspee Plateau received their Eagle badges on Saturday at a Court of Honor held at St. Peter Church. Michael Stone played “a Patriotic Medley” on the pipes in a prelude leading the Scouts, their parents and dignitaries into the church. Stone also closed out the ceremony with a recessional. Some had achieved the rank of Eagle in the last several years, but because of the pandemic had not participated in a Court of Honor. Among those offering congratulations were Rep. Joseph McNamara, a member of Troop 4, and Congressman Seth Magaziner. Magaziner recognized that fewer than five percent of Boy Scouts, which today also include girls, go on to become Eagles. They both spoke on the impact scouting has on the community and values. (Warwick Beacon photos)
