To the Editor:
Why is Sheldon Whitehouse being so selective?
According to columnist Ian Donnis, Senator Whitehouse is concerned about the Supreme Court. He decries the supposed “steady stream of reports of Justices’ ethical failures”.(Talking Politics, July 27) At the same time, the Senator has been nonchalant about the growing reports of glaring ethical failures(e.g., lying, taking bribes, persecuting political opponents) involving President Joe Biden.
Why such selective concern? Shouldn’t Sheldon Whitehouse be as troubled about the sinking public confidence in President Biden’s ethics as he is about the Supreme Court? It begs the question: when it comes to expressing moral indignation, why is Sheldon Whitehouse being so selective?
