Linda Margaret Sheehan, 76, of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2023. She was the daughter of the late James Rafferty and Margaret (Sears) Rafferty. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daniel, their four children, Daniel Sheehan and his wife Jennifer of Franklin, MA., Patrick Sheehan and Pamela of Oviedo, FL, Timothy Sheehan and his wife Kristen of Warwick, RI, and Christian Sheehan and his wife Elizabeth of Pittsburgh, PA. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren (Emily, Max, Danny, Kelly, Samantha, Will, Luke, Harlan, Patrick) and her sister, Michelle Rafferty of North Kingstown, RI. She also had 2 brothers, James Rafferty and Stephen Rafferty, both deceased.
She was a 1968 graduate of Rhode Island College and worked as a Teacher Assistant in the Warwick School Department for over 20 years. One of her greatest passions was working with special needs students and teaching them the skills to lead a happy and fulfilling life. She was also the longtime president of the Warwick Independent School Employee (WISE) Union.
Linda was a voracious reader and book club member, and an avid golfer, winning the Women’s Club Championship at Potowomut Golf Club in 1983. She was also a fierce bridge player at Warwick Country Club, played Hand and Foot with her friends every week, and was always up for a game of Cribbage or Hi-Lo Jack.
She could make anything in her at-home craft shop and probably knitted enough scarfs to circumnavigate the globe while watching her boys play hockey for so many years.
A funeral will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at 8:45AM from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave., Warwick at 10AM. Visiting hours will be Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 4-8PM.
