The Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce conducted its annual Rising Above the Rest awards ceremony Friday at the Sheraton Hotel. Mayor Scott Avedisian addressed the gathering where Chamber President Lauren Slocum read the qualifications of each recipient and chamber board Chair Leah Prata presented the awards. Recipients, their affiliation and their awards seated from left are: Kathy St. Jean Deats and Randy Deats of Dancin' Feeling, business of the year; Terri Abbruzzese, of PuroClean Disaster Restoration Services, chamber advocate; Nick Slocum of Slocum Realty/Slocum Insurance, young professional of the year; and Fabio Pari of NYLO Hotel, conquering adversity.
