James “Jim” Donald Silvia, 90, of Warwick, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late M. Barbara (Hicks) Silvia. Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Frank P. and Adelina (Silva) Silvia.

Jim worked as a Truck driver for over 30 years for Leviton Manufacturing, Spector Freight and ABF Freight through Teamster’s Local 251. In addition, Jim served as a Special duty Police Officer for the Rocky Point Police force of the Warwick Police Department in the 1960’s, and Jim also served as the Commissioner and as a Coach for the Warwick Football League in the 1970’s. For many years, Jim was the Sexton for St. Francis Parish and School and was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time, Jim enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and preparing his famous Clam Cakes & Chowder for family and parish events especially the “Happy Days Festival”.

He is survived by his beloved children, Michael J. Silvia, Timothy P. Silvia, James M. Silvia, and Kathleen M. Lawson, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was the father of the late Patrick J. Silvia, brother of the late Alice McGann, Frank Silvia, Alfred Silvia, and George Silvia and grandfather of the late Nicholas Silvia and Andrew Silvia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 12:30PM at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich.

Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 9:00AM-11:30AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
