Food was at the center of the festivities at the “Taste of Rhode Island” event was held June 5 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel’s Garden Pavilion in Warwick.
The night showcased 50 vendors featuring some of the best of Rhode Island’s culinary offerings. The event additionally featured a Charity Pavilion with raffles and auctions to benefit the MAE Organization for the Homeless.
Guests walked the red carpet and had their photos taken. Live entertainment was provided by Dr. Slick, while United Parking provided complimentary valet service.
“We couldn’t have been happier with the turnout,” said Pat Paolino Cruz, who produced the event along with Lupe Aguilar. “Rhode Island has some of the best food and drink in the country … The event provides a wonderful opportunity for locals to meet and connect with staff, chefs and owners of our restaurants and venues. We want our guests to not only enjoy the evening but to leave with new venues in mind for future patronage, and we believe we’ve done our job.”
“Taste of Rhode Island” also supports the Rhode Island Hospitality Education Foundation, a program that develops, supports and promotes career growth opportunities within the hospitality industry.
Adding to the excitement of the event came special awards presented by Chef Frank Terranova and WJAR’s Barbara Morse Silva, Mario Hilario and Lindsay Iadeluca.
“We couldn’t believe how many restaurants there were to choose from, and the overall vibe of the night was great,” said attendee Tina Marie Santoro of Cranston.
The next “Taste of Rhode Island” event will be held Oct. 17 in Providence.
