The Toll Gate field hockey team prevailed, 2-1, in overtime against Cranston East on Friday afternoon, with sophomore Nicole Procaccini netting the game-winner at 7:24 of the overtime period.

The Titans battled back after surrendering the game’s first goal – a tally from East’s Melany Jimenez at 12:35 of the first half on a deflection off a Brittney Bidwell shot.

The Titans battled back to tie the game at 1 on a goal from Emily May at 24:01 of the first half from in close, with Mya Linchitz earning the assist.

After a scoreless second half, both teams came out firing in overtime.

In the opening minutes of the extra period, Toll Gate keeper Mary Greenwell made a pair of phenomenal saves on Bidwell to keep the game going in the sudden-death format.

The Titans then earned a corner hit, and they were able to take advantage.

Procaccini took a pass at the top of the key, stepped in and fired the game-winner to secure Toll Gate’s third league victory of the season.

The Titans were set for a rivalry matchup with Pilgrim on Monday, but results were unavailable at press time. The Titans will have another crucial game against Rocky Hill on Wednesday to determine potential playoff seeding. That game will be played at 3:45 p.m. at CCRI’s Knight Campus.
