The Flintstones movie was “good clean fun for everyone,” while “Beverly Hills Cop III” was one too many, as was “City Slickers II.”
“Speed,” starring Dennis Hopper, Keanu Reeves and Jeff Daniels, plus a “great young actress” by the name of Sandra Bullock, kept you on the edge of your seat.
Jack Nicholson starred as a werewolf in “Wolf.” Rhode Island’s Richard Jenkins actually got star billing over Nicholson as the detective. Cranston’s own Peter Gerrity played a guard who unfortunately only had a few lines before he met a brutal death.
Can you believe that it was 20 years ago that “The Lion King” movie opened.
Another Gaspee Days came and passed, along with Lindsay’s Market, Cameron’s Drug Store and John Hackett talking politics in front of Dear Hearts.
The Fugees gave a concert at Rocky Point.
Cranston teacher Carol Mitola made her debut as the first woman organist to perform on PPAC’s Mighty Wurlitzer at their free Wednesday noon concerts.
Warwick Musical Theatre opened with two sold out performances by America’s hottest comedian, Jerry Seinfeld. Ray Charles and Trisha Yearwood also appeared. And then there was Liza.
Brown opened its Silver Anniversary summer season with Charles Ludlam’s “Artificial Jungle.”
Remember Quahogs on Masthead Drive in Warwick? It was one of the few places in Rhode Island where you could get a hot lobster roll.
