The Chapel of St. Therese of Lisieux

Extending love and peace this holiday season

Posted

For Christians around the world, Christmas is a time to celebrate of the birth of Jesus Christ.  In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is called many names; He is known as the Redeemer, the Deliverer, the Son of God, and the Only Begotten Son.  He truly is the Prince of Peace in a world so often plagued with strife, intolerance, bigotry, and hate.  For Catholics and those of other Christian faiths, His birth marks the entry of redemption, forgiveness, deliverance, hope, peace, and joy into the human experience.

Members of the congregation of The Chapel of St. Therese of Lisieux in West Warwick embrace all that Jesus’s life represents and all that these names suggest He is. Indeed, their philosophy is “founded on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.”

The Chapel of St. Therese is an inclusive Catholic Community that functions outside the jurisdiction of Rome.  The Church’s ordained Pastor, Father Charles Vohs (affectionately known as Father Chuck) invites all to worship here alongside other faithful churchgoers.  He and his fellow worshippers have created a space where those who have not felt welcome in the Catholic Church can come to feel accepted, supported, respected and safe.

As believers, these congregants embrace the message of charity that this season represents, following the admonition of St. Therese who says: “Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word, always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.”

This holiday season, as with others in the past, the St. Therese Parish family is participating in its Annual Food Drive to support the efforts of the West Warwick-based charity, Project Hand-Up. Project Hand-Up’s mission is to “support those tackling times with food assistance, no questions asked.” Now through December 17th, donations of non-perishable food items, gift cards for turkeys, or monetary donations will be collected at the chapel before and/or after Sunday Mass. Check out their informative website for “most needed items.”
