The Toll Gate baseball team would get some revenge against rival Pilgrim last week when it walked away with a 6-3 victory.

Zach DeCorpo led the way going 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Jeremie Luna also knocked in a run. Brayden Ogden and Luca Barletta combined for five strikeouts on the mound.

Pilgrim would grab an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Titans would respond by scoring four runs in the second which would prove to be enough.

Brady MacCarone, Devyn Robbins, Connor Salzillo and Brayden Adler-Maranhao also crossed the plate for the Titans. DeCorpo and Luna stole a pair of bases each.

Jack Smith took the loss on the mound for the Pats and recorded four strikeouts while Robert Court stuck out two more batters. Pilgrim won the first meeting between the two clubs, 8-1.

Cranston East’s Randy Guzman would toss his second no-hitter of the season to lead the Bolts to a 10-0 win in six innings on Monday afternoon at the Stadium over Toll Gate.

The Central Connecticut-commit was dominant from start to finish, picking up 12 strikeouts and walking just one batter.

“It’s a great feeling. I feel accomplished and I want to keep going, keep winning. Anytime I can come out here and help my team win, I feel accomplished. We needed this win,” said Guzman. “Some days it is just there, and today it was there right away. I just wanted to attack the batters and come out with the win.”

The East bats wasted no time getting going as the Bolts would jump out to a big 9-0 lead through the first two innings. Damon Asencio led the way going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs. Carlos Merejo had a big performance as well, scoring two runs on two hits as well. The Toll Gate defense struggled in the loss, committing five errors in the field.

Getting the quick run support allowed Guzman to settle in and pitch with confidence.

“That gives me a ton of energy. We are a very talented team overall, but sometimes we struggle with the bats. Having the bats there today was excellent for us,” Guzman said.

Toll Gate’s Barletta got the start for the Titans and would work for five innings and pick up three strikeouts. Andrew Agostinelli picked up a strikeout in relief.

Toll Gate fell to 3-9 in league play with the loss to the Bolts and the two teams will be playing their rematch on Thursday in Warwick.
