Lighting up the season Lights glowed and so did the spirit of the season Sunday with the lighting of the Warwick Christmas tree in front of Thayer Arena followed by an evening of free skating, hot chocolate and donuts, face painting, free reindeer food

Lighting up the season

PLENTY OF FRIENDS: Olaf from the Disney film Frozen was a hit at the tree lighting ceremony in front of Thayer Arena. FACE CANES: Rachel Channen of the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs put her artistic talents to use Sunday painting candy canes of the faces of visitors to the city’s Christmas celebration at Thayer Arena. YOU NEVER KNOW WHOM YOU MIGHT MEET: The Nutcracker and his entourage of mice from the Festival Ballet Providence, which is performing the Nutcracker at The Vets in Providence made an appearance. Among their admirer were Katie Cornell and Briana Beauvais who posed for pictures.

Lights glowed and so did the spirit of the season Sunday with the lighting of the Warwick Christmas tree in front of Thayer Arena followed by an evening of free skating, hot chocolate and donuts, face painting, free reindeer food (oatmeal and sparkles in plastic bags that was handed out to kids) and, naturally, a chance to share a visit with Santa. Holly Weber, who helped coordinate the event said in more than 30 years of attending the annual tree lighting has she seen such a turn out.
