The Warwick Vets boys’ soccer team got its postseason off to a flying start last Wednesday, knocking off No. 8 seed Ponaganset 3-0 in the preliminary round of the Division III playoffs.
The ’Canes, seeded ninth, scored all three of their goals in the first half. Senior standout Nikone Soupharath accounted for two of them, while Josiah Enos added the other. Andrew Falaguerra and Sebastian Rasmussen were credited with assists. In net, Ryan Costa made eight saves.
The victory propelled Vets into the quarterfinals, where it was scheduled to meet top-seeded Woonsocket on Monday with results unavailable at press time.
