In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first international concert tour led by Michael Kroian, and in an effort to fully fund two scholarships in his memory, the Warwick Vets Chorus and Chorale Alumni will hold a dinner April 14 at the West Valley Inn.
Michael Kroian was the beloved high school choral director at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School. When he died in 2009, his former students formed a committee to establish the “Michael S. Kroian Sr. Memorial Scholarship Funds” for students pursuing a music education degree at the University of Rhode Island or Rhode Island College, with Warwick students given a preference.
The group has already raised the $10,000 needed to endow a scholarship at RIC and is $4,000 shy of endowing the $25,000 needed at URI.
The alumni aim to fully fund the endowments this year.
Tickets to the April 14 event are $45. The event will start at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner at 7:15. Tickets cannot be purchased at the door.
The reunion dinner will also feature a silent auction. Information about the reunion or how to make a donation can be found at www.wvmhschorale.com. Requests for tickets and additional information should be emailed to: golf4wvmhs@
gail.com.
