Although no one is quite sure when St. Barnabas Church in Apponaug started hosting its Christmas Bazaar, the 2023 edition upheld the Episcopal parish’s tradition as a holiday shoppers’ paradise.
From the time doors opened at Schweitzer Hall, there was a steady flow of foot traffic that as Co-Chairperson Heidi Seddon said, “We had so many people come through or doors and all our booths were busy all day.”
More impressively, perhaps, as Seddon said: “We recognize many people who come here every year and they let us know that they look forward to the St. Barnabas Bazaar every year.”
Likewise, there were as Seddon said, “many new faces this year and people were telling us how impressed they were with our organization and presentation; it’s amazing that you people have such a long-standing tradition for holiday shoppers.”
Bazaar 2023 will be remembered as a colorful and creative winter wonderland replete with vintage treasures unique raffles and food specials served from Schweitzer Café, a.k.a. St. Barnabas’ ground level all purpose room.
The bazaar featured 15 grand raffle prizes and more than 100 prizes in the unique Day Raffle. Seddon credited the bazaar’s success to, “many, many parishioners who volunteer their time and talent to the bazaar... every year we have new committee people who work nicely with our group of seasoned pros.”
