Warwick connections in Westerly

ONE-TIME WARWICK EDUCATOR: The Westerly Armory Restoration, Inc. recognized Dr. John Settitano, who during his career taught at the former Lockwood High School in Warwick, as an honorary member. Presenting him with the distinction if Roberta Humble, founding president of the Westerly Armory Restoration, Inc. Others honored were Rose Marie Pampel Weston, Rep. Samuel Azzinaro, Joseph Potter and Mary Lou Serra (posthumously).

HE’S FOR REAL: Lt. Col. Ken Gilbert of the Pawtuxet Rangers fit right in among uniformed mannequins in the Westerly Armory, only he was in the flesh. Roberta Humble gave Gilbert, along with Westerly High School, a tour of the armory museum. The students prepared the dinner and served it for the member appreciation evening.

They called it “Warwick night” Saturday as the Westerly Armory Restoration, Inc. celebrated its Member Appreciation Evening at the armory drill hall. Warwick resident, event organizer and founding president of the armory restoration Roberta Humble invited Mayor Scott Avedisian, Felicia Gardella, president of the Warwick Historical Society, and John Howell, president of the Rocky Point Foundation, to speak about “Rocky Point Park: Then and Now.” Lending a colorful addition to the evening and another Warwick connection were members of the Pawtuxet Rangers.
