Bessie A. Williams, 84, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Virgil Goodwin and a daughter of the late Harry and Bessie A. (Waterman) Day. Bessie was a Psychologist with the Providence School Department for 26 years, retiring in 2005. She was also an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department of RI College. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from URI, her Master’s Degree in Psychology as well as her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies at RI College. Bessie was a certified Graph Analyst, a member of the American Association of Handwriting Analysis and presented many seminars on the subject. Family was paramount in Bessie’s life, she adored being a mom and a nana and loved her girls get aways with her daughters and granddaughters every year. Bessie was also a wonderful cook and food was her love language. She was the loving mother of Thomas S. Sarkisian (Lori), Barbara J. Werfel (Bruce) and Jennifer E. Harris, devoted grandmother of Alex Iovino, Benjamin Werfel, Amanda Iovino, Ashley Iovino, Joshua Werfel and Jacob Harris. She was the sister of Harry Day Jr., the late Eleanor Miller, Marion Decosta, Charles Day, Alice Lama, Gladys Ciliberto and Shirley Day. She also leaves many close friends.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 10am in the Thomas and Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Warwick. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
