Over the last few months I have been cleaning out my garage and closets. I had boxes of books and over six laundry baskets full of clothes and odds and ends.
You know, there are things you hold on to because you are sure someday you will need it. Then there are the things that have some kind of a sentimental value.
Well, I got over all of it! I listed and priced everything. I went on the yard sale sites on Facebook and listed my yard sale.
Luckily, the weather was nice. I was sure I’d have a crowd. I even enlisted my boyfriend’s help to help with the overflow. We set up chairs and waited … and waited some more. Finally, someone showed up and bought something for two dollars. So, we waited some more. That was it! All that work for two dollars.
I live in Warwick Neck on a dead end. I attribute some of the low turnout to that and some to the fact of the abundance of the sites on Facebook that you can use to sell things. I decided that I had to get rid of everything. Off we went to the Salvation Army. Luckily, I had everything listed and priced. Six pages of things! I figured a tax deduction was better than nothing.
The ladies that helped were very nice and seemed appreciative. I was surprised when I totaled everything it came to over $600. That’s a lot considering that most things were one or two dollars and very few things were over five. It felt good to donate everything. Moving forward my yard sales days are over. From now on I just donate everything!
