Grief Support

If you have experienced the loss of someone you love and are ready to begin or continue the healing process, then you are welcome to come to a grief support group. Meat Raffle

There will be a meat raffle for 10 weeks every Saturday from 2-5 p.m. at the Johnson Gilchrist Goff VFW Post 183, 172 Washington St., Warwick. All proceeds go to A Wish Come True. Call 467-8940.

Improv Comedy Classes

Six weeks of improv comedy classes are being held on Mondays through March 11 at Warwick Museum of Art. Daniel White, founder of BYO Improv troupe, will lead classes for youth (ages 10-16) from 3-5 p.m. and adults (ages 17+) from 6-8 p.m. Students will learn the basics of sketch comedy - prepping for stage, starting and maintaining a scene using emotion, changing character with movement, and more - during 2two hours of weekly instruction. Classes are fast-paced with games, scenes and lots of laughs. The 12 hours of instruction costs $150 and registering is easy: by phone with a credit card (737-0010) or stop by WMOA with check or cash. Behavioral Meeting

The Kent Center Board of Directors Behavioral Health meeting will be held Feb. 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 2756 Post Road, Warwick. The public is invited. The facility is handicapped accessible. If you require special accommodations or need directions call 691-6000.

Ham & Bean Dinner

Join Warwick's Boy Scouts Troop 1284 for a ham and bean dinner and an evening of fun Saturday, March 2 at 5 p.m. This year mark's the troop's 30th annual dinner celebration. It will be held at St. Barnabas Church, 3257 Post Rd. Current and former troop members, their families, friends and the general public are invited to attend. Tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $10 for ages 13 and up and $5 ages 6-12. Kids under 5 are free. Dessert, beverages, salad and a full dinner are included. There will be a unique and fun penny social, where almost everyone goes home with a prize. There will also be various raffles. All proceeds help support Troop 1284 scouting programs.

Bingo

There will be a bingo held March 2 at St. Kevin's Church Hall, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6 p.m. Fun, prizes and refreshments.

Beekeeping Classes

Rhode Island College will host two five-week beginner beekeeping courses offered by the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association (RIBA) through March 2 at Rhode Island College, Forman Center, Room A, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Cost is $65. Topics will include getting started, the honeybee life cycle, choosing an apiary site, buying bees and equipment, assembly of the hive, installing package bees, catching swarms, nectar sources, bee diseases and pests, hive inspections and wintering and a demonstration of a variety of beekeeping equipment. United Fly Tyers Monthly Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the United Fly Tyers of Rhode Island will be held March 6 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 245 Sandy Lane, Warwick, at 6:30 p.m. The club will host Marla Blair from Ludlow Massachusetts, author of "Positive Fly Fishing," she is an experienced fly fisher, guide and fly tier for western Massachusetts and northwestern Connecticut. She owns and operates Marla Blair's Fly Fishing Guide Service & Instruction. She is a federal fly fisher certified instructor. She also belongs to many local and national flyfishing organizations. She will present a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable Power Point presentation on "The Hatch and Body Language of Trout for Choosing the Right Fly Pattern" at the meeting. There will be a raffle for a guided flyfishing trip for two with Marla Blair, donated by Marla. This meeting is open to members of the club free of charge and non-members for a nominal fee of $5, payable at the door. She will give everyone loads of hints and secrets to get you ready for spring fresh water flyfishing. Refreshments will be served.

Grange Get-Together

The Rhode Island State Grange, headed by their president/master Stephen Logan, has invited all Rhode Island Grange members to attend a get-together, featuring a special guest, Michael Martin, National Grange Leadership/Membership Director, on Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at Slocum Grange Hall, 96 Slocum Road, North Kingstown. Michael Martin will be discussing National Grange programs and discussion will be held on how Grange members are doing in Rhode Island. Members will be having "Cracker Barrel" discussions on membership and Grange growth in Rhode Island. A special invitation is being offered to all officers and directors of each local Grange, as well as other members interested in growing the Grange through increased membership. 2013 Wednesday Senior Softball

Registration is now underway for those 57 and over to join a recreational slow-pitch softball league. All games are played at City Park in Warwick on Wednesday mornings. You do not have to be a resident of Warwick to join. The application fee is $20. Deadline for registration is March 15. The playing season is May through September. The Trudeau Memorial Center welcomes back Damhsa Irish Step Dance March 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the Larkin Recreational Building, with special guests Jimmy Desrosiers, pianist, Jay Brunelle, entertainer, Dr. Timothy Hudyncia, unicyclist and juggler, Alexandra and Nathaniel Nichols, violinist and guitarist, and Michael Stone, bagpiper.
