To the Editor,

Councilwoman and former Council President, Donna Travis is not just the person that has done “more good than anyone else” for the residents of Oakland Beach. She has absolutely done more good for the residents of Oakland Beach than EVERYONE ELSE PUT TOGETHER!

The Warwick Beacon doesn’t have enough pages to list all of Donna’s accomplishments, (read the letter-to-the-editor of June 22, 2017 entitled “Donna Travis Deserves a Statue” for a partial list.), but the most honorable aspect of this lady, in my opinion, is that she has never been “political”. With Donna, right is right and wrong is wrong, and she has never been shy about expressing that, even when political insiders tried in vane to pressure her. She always knew how and when to be nice and if someone tried to bully her into submission, she also knew how to be tough as nails! (I actually felt sorry for a few of the idiots that tried.)

She unselfishly served the taxpayers for 30 years through the tenure of five mayors and earned the respect of everyone she interacted with, friend or foe.

She really is the Tom Brady of Oakland Beach and I will be sending her a “Thank You” card. Everyone who lives in Warwick should, too. Her non-stop efforts greatly benefitted all 80,000+ residents of our City. There really should be a statue of her and her husband Bill at the entrance to Oakland Beach. (Maybe we should even rename it “Donna and Bill’s Oakland Beach”.

Too much? Yeah. Maybe. Hey! How ‘bout a roast?) We should also send a sympathy card to The City, mourning the loss of such a magnificent leader. There never has been and I predict there never will be anyone better in Warwick politics than Donna Travis.

Thank you Donna. Happy and healthy retirement.
