Edgewood Community Picnic this Sunday

The Edgewood Congregational Church is holding a Community Picnic this Sunday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. on the church grounds at 1788 Broad St. in Cranston.

The historic building has become a vibrant hub in the neighborhood, serving three congregations, three scout troops, two schools (You Rock! School of Music and the Rhode Island Chess School) a Tai chi group, and numerous community and support groups, including AA.

Join church and community members from Edgewood and nearby Providence and Warwick and meet your neighbors you may or may not already know.

Meat, veggie items and drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring a dish to share.

The church building has been a gathering place for a variety of activities over the years. Most recently it opened Lydia’s Closet, over six rooms of low-cost items for sale, including clothing, furniture, household items, books and much more.

The church has formed a planning group to envision the building’s future, seeking ways and means to be even more of a community resource and asset, making the facilities more accessible for everyone, from children to senior citizens.

Come and join us.
