After a month of conducting most programs at the Warwick Public Library as well as holding some events at the Sawtooth Building in Apponaug, seniors are back at the Pilgrim Senior Center, which has a “new car smell” thanks to new floors and carpeting. Center director Meg Underwood lauded contractors M. Frank Higgins & Co. of Berlin, Connecticut for their work and her staff for the scheduling of programs off site during construction. Senior Center program manager Kathleen Bohl and library director Aaron Coutu worked closely to accommodate the influx of seniors at the library. “While the building was closed, we used the opportunity to clean out some areas of the Center, so it looks much more open and inviting,” said Underwood. We’ve made a few other improvements, including new shelving in the Gift Shop, and we are in the process of getting a digital scheduling board to replace the paper schedules we put out every day. We are also getting a new Welcome Desk! I’m especially excited about that—like the new flooring, it looks warmer and more inviting than the wall that was erected many years ago.” She called the arrangement with the library “a perfect partnership.” (Warwick Beacon photos)
