The Coastal Nutcracker, the creation of Brenda Warnock, left, and Vicki Francesconi-Sullivan is the first of the Christmas characters to make their seasonable appearance in Conimicut Village. As was the case with Halloween characters, the Christmas visitors are part of a contest where participants are assigned a village light pole to decorate. The nutcracker, made from an assortment of items from Styrofoam balls to a cardboard tube for concrete, stands sentry at the intersection of West Shore Road and Beach Avenue. He stepped into place Sunday once the village association had completed holiday decorations of the street lights. (Warwick Beacon photo)
