To the Editor:
I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Mayor Joe Solomon this past week. The Cascella family has had a long relationship with the Solomon family. Fifty years ago, Joe’s uncle John would come door-to-door selling dry goods. My mom was his customer having to outfit five growing boys. Twenty-five years ago I provided a PA system and patriotic music at then newly elected Councilman Joe Solomon’s headquarters in Hoxsie.
Over the years Joe had been a personal friend who always greeted me with an outstretched hand. Over the years we occupied opposite ends of the political spectrum but always had a good relationship.
It is with a saddened heart I offer condolences personally and as chairman of the Warwick Republican City Committee. The WRCC held a moment of silence at our last meeting and asked that I offer the sympathies of the entire group. We will hold a place in our hearts for Joe and will continue holding him in high esteem as we remember his dedicated service to the citizens of Warwick.
Thank you Mr. Mayor and God bless you.
Rick Cascella
