Peter Joseph McGinn, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Goggin) McGinn for 60 years. Peter was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Kelley) McGinn of Riverside. In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his devoted daughters, Virginia McGinn Springer (late Stephen) of Barrington, and Christine McLaughlin (Daniel) of Belmont, MA, as well as his adored grandchildren Elizabeth, Vivian and Peter McLaughlin.

 Peter also leaves behind his brother Joseph McGinn (Judith) and his sister Mary McCarthy (Thomas), as well as many other cherished family members and close friends. He is predeceased by his brothers Frank McGinn (late Eileen) and Thomas McGinn (former sister-in-law Patricia).

Peter was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy, the College of the Holy Cross and Harvard Law School. Following graduation, he served in the Army as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) in Washington, D. C. After completing his service in JAG, Peter returned to Rhode Island and settled in Barrington, later moving to Warwick Neck where he lived for 45 years. He had a distinguished law career and was a partner for close to 50 years at the former law firm of Tillinghast, Licht and Semonoff. Peter was active in many organizations and gave generously of his time. He was a longtime member and past President of Warwick Country Club, a member of the President’s Council at the College of the Holy Cross, Chairman and member of the Board for Bishop Hendricken High School, a longtime religious education teacher and trustee of St. Kevin’s Parish, and a member of the Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Committee. Additionally, Peter was an avid reader, golfer and world traveler.

The family is very grateful and would like to thank Hope Hospice for their extraordinary care and support these past few months.

 Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 9:30am-11:30am, at the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm at St. Kevin’s Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. His burial will be private. Flowers respectfully omitted.
