Have you ever stayed at the Biltmore?

The Johnston Historical Society will host a historical presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Watch for further details (time and place) in future editions.

Author Amanda Quay Blount, of Warwick, who wrote “Meet Me At The Biltmore,” originally hails from New Jersey but came to Rhode Island in 2018 and was instantly enthralled by the historic allure of the state.

She holds a degree in History from Rutgers University and a Master's in Social Work and Community Development from Washington University in St. Louis.

“Meet Me At The Biltmore” was researched over the course of two years and with the help of dozens of people who are interested in the historical and social relevance of the hotel.

Blount compiled thousands of primary source articles and interviews to write this book, including archives from the hotel itself.

She now resides in Warwick with her husband and daughter where she is enjoying learning about the local history and important contributions the town has made to American history.

‘Meet Me At The Biltmore Presentation’

Join Blount for a presentation about her recently released book, which Hey Rhody magazine called “meticulously researched.” The book spans 100 years at the Providence Biltmore Hotel, sharing Rhode Island and Providence history through the lens of this grand landmark.

The presentation will include some of the celebrity and lore surrounding the hotel, and present the importance of the building in the context of a changing city over time. Amanda will be available to answer questions about her research and will be signing copies of her book after the presentation.

It’s scheduled to begin around 7:30 p.m., at the Historical Society’s headquarters, at 101 Putnam Pike, Johnston.
