The contractor has informed me that the new Apponaug playground behind City Hall will FINALLY be done on Monday. This is a beautiful, state of the art, ADA compliant playground built with a federal Community Development Block Grant. The new playground at Clegg Field is open and the one in Pontiac is currently under construction.

I get a lot of questions about the proposed splash pad at Oakland Beach. It’s been a very lengthy process, because of its nature and proximity to the water it had to go through approvals by both DEM and CRMC. Then the company that designed it took a lot longer than I would have liked. The project went out to bid and it was awarded at the end of September. We’re having a pre-construction meeting the second week of this month and they’ll give us their construction plan and schedule.

I got the big heavy props on the roof up and wired for my Christmas light display. Now I have to run the power and communications  network to it. I have about four and a half (I hope) more weeks to go. My goal is always to finish two weeks before Thanksgiving, so I have two weeks for testing and tweaking before it starts running on Black Friday.

The therapy pool (hot pool) will be open at regular hours beginning tomorrow.
