RI Hockey HOF to honor high school All-Staters

The RI Hockey Hall of Fame has announced that, for the first time, the 12 members of the RI All-State Boys & Girls Hockey Teams will be honored on stage at the Hall’s annual Enshrinement Celebration & Dinner scheduled for Saturday, August 19th at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet in Cranston, RI. The announcement was made by Vincent Cimini, founding chairman of the Hall of Fame.

Among this year’s First Team All-Staters who will be honored at the HOF ceremonies are Will Cavanagh and Griffin Crain from Bishop Hendricken; Pilgrim High School’s Ryan Barlow, Braxton Bragg and Mary Centracchio from the Warwick Co-op teams; and Cranston resident Keira Goffe, who plays for the Smithfield/Coventry/Moses Brown Co-op.

“We intend this to be the start of a new tradition,” noted Cimini. “There is one important thing that all of these talented young people have in common with all of the legendary player inductees of the RI Hockey Hall of Fame - all can call themselves Rhode Island All-Staters. All stand on the shoulders of those hockey heroes who came before them – inspired by their achievements, their coaching, their guidance, and the programs and opportunities they created.

“We envision that many of these young players will also ascend and excel at the next level, perhaps, like their predecessors, earning a higher education or even a professional career thanks to their hockey talents,” he added.

Tickets to the 2013 Hall of Fame Enshrinement event are available at RIHHOF.com.
