How do you hold a car wash in the middle of the Apponaug Circulator? By the time motorists spot the wash, they are beyond the turnoff and returning requires going through a couple of roundabouts to get back. The Toll Gate Girls Soccer Team had the solution – spread the team out with signs at multiple points on the circulator with signs and leave the washing to another crew. “We’re the advertising, the most interesting,” avowed Victoria Halstead. Their efforts at Dunkin Donuts was paying off. Within two hours they had collected more than $200 in donations for the team. Regardless, the team was in high spirits having won an 8-game summer league and returning as last year’s champs. This year they aim to repeat the process in the D-2 Division. Coach Bob Enright said the funds raised would help offset the cost of special uniforms and team events. (Warwick Beacon photos)
