When the oak tree in front of his house on Haswill Street looked like it would have to come down, Joe Vizzacco believed it could be transformed into something else. He had seen the work of Damon Giustini and contacted the Smithfield artist. Over three days Giustini carved what Vizzacco was able to save of the tree. He started with a chain saw and then refined the work with an angle grinder. The final touch was painting the work that he completed last week. Even before the finishing brush strokes, neighbors were stopping to admire the bald eagle and take photos. Giustini and Vizzacco are pictured here. (Warwick Beacon photo)
