There was no masking feelings of the heart or the last minute rush to celebrate Valentine’s Day this weekend. Yard Works on Warwick Avenue was prepared for the occasion having ordered more than 1,000 roses, plus having a wide assortment of arrangements to either be picked up or delivered. The Mir family who run Sweet Palace at Warwick Mall expanded operations for the occasion with a kiosk outside their store. Candy, especially chocolate (some of it in the form of giant candy bars) was a good seller along with a Valentine-red stuffed bear. Vinnie Palumbo, on a mission to find the perfect gift for his wife Carla, however, entered his quest without any preconceptions. He had no set budget in mind. “It’s not about how much it costs,” he said, “it’s finding the right thing.” He said he “just knows” when he’s found it. That “perfect gift” he found pictured on the window at Pandora at the mall. He joined a line to get it. And then as Sean Devine at Pink at the mall could attest, there were many who let their loved ones do what they love to do – shop. They bought gift cards. (Warwick Beacon photos)
