In advance to the 20th anniversary of 9-11 and in recognition of first responders, Hoxsie School fourth and fifth graders paid tribute to Warwick police and firefighters on Friday. Following a summation of what happened on 9-11, Principal Gary McCoombs recognized Mayor Frank Picozzi and called upon students Paige Murphy, Sydney Diggins, Lucy McClendon and Abigail Thornhill to read their essays on what a hero means to them. Police and firefighters in attendance were presented thank you posters from the fourth grade. Participating students were also acknowledged. Leah Thornhill made it extra special for her daughter Abigail with a bouquet. (Warwick Beacon photos)
