In advance to the 20th anniversary of 9-11 and in recognition of first responders, Hoxsie School fourth and fifth graders paid tribute to Warwick police and firefighters on Friday. Following a summation of what happened on 9-11, Principal Gary McCoombs recognized Mayor Frank Picozzi and called upon students Paige Murphy, Sydney Diggins, Lucy McClendon and Abigail Thornhill to read their essays on what a hero means to them. Police and firefighters in attendance were presented thank you posters from the fourth grade. Participating students were also acknowledged.
