On September 14, Speaker Joe Shekarchi received the Governmental Service Award from the Community Provider Network of Rhode Island.
This award is given annually to state or federal service employee(s) or an elected official(s) who has contributed to the improved quality of life for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Organizers noted that the work Speaker Shekarchi has done for Rhode Island’s disability community has been monumental. They also thanked him for creating an open and inclusive atmosphere in the House.
