#1 Daniel D’Alessio

Bishop Hendricken’s Valedictorian Daniel D’Alessio will be attending the University of Notre Dame where he is considering majors in either Finance, Accountancy, or Business Analytics. While achieving academic success, D’Alessio was also driven to explore many interests while at Bishop Hendricken. He was a member of the Leadership Academy, Student Council Vice President, a peer mentor, Mock Trial Captain, and also host of the Hawk Radio.

D’Alessio received many awards including the Rhode Island Civic Leadership Award and the Rhode Island General Treasurer’s Young Leader Award. He is also a recipient of the Claiborne Pell Medal for Excellence in U.S. History, is an AP Scholar with Honor, and was named Hendricken’s 2024 Man of the Year. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the National Spanish Honor Society.

When it comes to motivation, D’Alessio says that his parents motivate him the most. He recalls they always stressed the importance of education for the doors it can open personally and professionally.

“I always strive to make them proud,” wrote D’Alessio. He continued that he is motivated by his personal goal of graduating at the top of his class.

“My friends” are who he contributes most to his enjoyment of high school. “They helped me balance school and fun,” said D’Alessio. He credits his success to his teachers, who “challenged but also supported me in overcoming those challenges.”

#2 Jack Hamilton

Jack Hamilton, Co-Salutatorian will attend Dartmouth College in the fall, intending to major in Engineering Sciences and Energy Engineering. During his time at Hendricken, Hamilton was a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship. He was an award winner of the National Merit Siemens Scholarship.

Hamilton was also a member of the indoor & outdoor track and field team, was a part of the theatre group, and member of the math team, peer mentoring, and French club, to name a few.

“Conversations with Mr. Morey” and spending “time with friends in extracurriculars.” Is what Hamilton said that he’ll remember most from high school.

When writing about what motivated him, Hamilton said, “It was all intrinsic. I feel disappointed in myself if I don’t give things my best effort.” He continued that he was motivated by the “teachers making classes interesting & fun.”

“Mr. Morey, Mr. Theroux, and Mrs. Andrews,” are who have contributed to his success.

(Tied for Second Ranking)

Co-Salutatorian, Logan Perrigo plans to major in Applied Mathematics and Environmental Sciences at Brown University this fall. While at Hendricken, Perrigo was involved in many extracurriculars.

He was the founding member of the gardening club, sound crew head for the Technical Theater, and team captain of the Academic Decathlon and math teams.

Perrigo earned several awards during his high school career. He received the 2022-23 Brown University Book Award, was named an AP Scholar with Honors, and received the gold medal in the National Spanish Exam Level four.

Perrigo wrote he was motivated to succeed by “My desire to learn.” He also said that he was also motivated by wanting to “make my parents proud.”

“My parents and brothers,” said Perrigo, are who he believes contributed most to his success.

“The time I spent laughing with friends,” wrote Perrigo is what he will miss the most.

#4 Marco Ialongo

Senior Marco Ialongo ranked fourth in the Bishop Hendricken Class of 2024. In the fall, he will be attending Brown University, majoring in Biology. Ialongo was a member of the National Honor Society as well as a member of the National English and Italian Honor Societies. He was a recipient of the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award.

Ialongo was not only successful in the classroom, but also a successful athlete. During his time at BHHS, he was a varsity swimmer and the team captain.

Ialongo was also a part of the concert and pep band, a tutor at the Hawk Writing Center, a peer minister, and a peer mentor.

He describes his most significant memories as those he made with his teammates on the swim team. “The bonds I created with my teammates are more important to me than any of the accolades I have received during my high school career, wrote Ialongo. “They are who I will miss the most.”

#5 Gabriel McInnis

Ranked fifth in the Class of 2024, is Gabriel McInnis. In September, McInnis will attend the University of Notre Dame where he intends to major in architecture.

During his time at Bishop Hendricken, McInnis received a plethora of awards. He was a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the National English and Spanish Honor Societies, received the Arts Academy Director’s Award, and was a nominee for the Ocean State Star Award.

McInnis was an active member of the school community. He was a member of the Ambassador’s Club, and the Gardening Club, was a peer mentor, a math tutor, and a writing tutor.

“My friends and peers in my class,” said McInnis are who motivated him to succeed.

“All of the outstanding teachers and amazing people that I have met at Hendricken.” Wrote McInnis are whom he will remember the most.

McInnis wrote “Without a doubt, my parents have contributed the most to my success.”

Sixth in the graduating class is Christian Briones. He will be attending Roger Williams University, where he will be majoring in architecture.

Briones wrote “At first my parent’s expectations” motivated him to succeed. He continued “As I got older, I started to motivate myself.”

Briones was a part of the French club and the gardening club. He was also the stage manager for two productions as well as a costume designer for a production.

“The little moments,” said Briones is what he will miss the most from his time in high school.

“My parents,” wrote Briones about what contributed to his success.

#6 Daniel McLoughlin

(Tied for sixth)

Tied for the sixth ranking in the Class of 2024 is Daniel McLoughlin. McLoughlin will be attending Bryant University in the fall and will be majoring in finance.

During his time at Hendricken, he was a member of the indoor and outdoor track team, and was a participant in Mock Trial, the Leadership Academy, the math team, and the chess club. Annually, McLoughlin served as a volunteer at Operation Stand Down RI and has accumulated 112+ hours of community service throughout his high school career.

McLoughlin was a member of the National Honor Society, earned silver in the National Spanish exam, was a four-time member of the Bishop Hendricken Honor Roll President’s List, and was a Second Grant Award recipient in the RI State Science and Engineering Fair. He was a member of the English and Spanish National Honor Societies.

McLoughlin said that Mr. Manning contributed the most to his success in writing, “Mr. Manning’s class is always interactive, and he always made the classes fun.”

McLoughlin will miss his AP Chemistry class the most, saying, “It was very interactive, and it created a bond and a lot of memories.

#8 Christian Butera

(Tied for Eighth)

Christian Butera is ranked sixth in the class and will be majoring in Biology with a track in Pre-Med at Brown University. Successful in athletics, Butera was a two-sport athlete, participating on the basketball and baseball teams, serving as team captain for both teams. Butera was also involved in the Ambassadors Club, Leadership Academy, and peer ministry. He was also a tutor at the writing center.

Butera was a member of the National Honor Society, National English and Spanish Honor Societies, recipient of the Paul Alianiello Award, the Elmira Book Award, and Most Outstanding Senior in Basketball.

“My mom has motivated me the most,” wrote Butera. Seeing the work that his mother puts in as a doctor, he continued, “I hope I can make the same impact on people,” as she does.

When asked what he will remember most, “I will remember the relationships I have made and the kids that I have become friends with.”

Senior Tyler Estrada ranks tenth in the Class of 2024. At Hendricken, Estrada was involved in many activities, including theatre, chess club, gardening and pickleball. He also participated in sports. He was a part of the soccer, volleyball, swimming, and track teams.

Estrada received several awards, ranging from earning gold in the National Spanish team his junior year, receiving the URI Book Award, and being a recipient of the National Hispanic Recognition Award.

He is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, National English, and National Spanish Honor Societies.

He will attend Worchester Polytechnic Institute, where he will study chemical engineering.

“My parents” are who Estrada believes have contributed the most to his success. He continued, “They have always supported me in letting me do multiple activities.”

“The little moments.” Is what Estrada will remember most about his time at Hendricken.

Estrada was motivated by his parents writing, “Seeing how hard my parents worked, I wished to follow in their footsteps.”
