Vets girls soccer holds car wash fundraiser

More than 15 members of the 2013 Warwick Vets girls’ soccer squad spent much of Sunday morning – and part of the afternoon – at Buttonwoods Center off West Shore Road washing cars to raise additional funds not in the school’s athletic budget.

“We all have to remember it’s not like the old days when most everything was in a school sports budget,” said Joseph Almonte, president of the Lady Hurricanes Soccer Booster’s Club. “We need to fund raise for things like uniforms, balls, even post-season awards.”

Leading the way Sunday were booster club officers Almonte, Steve Bennett and Jim Kinney, and quad-captains Emily Almonte, Casey Bennett, Jami Derderian and Lauren Almonte.
