Jacob Spence knows Johnston’s War Memorial Park like the back of his hand.

Now, the Johnston Eagle Scout hopes to make the park more familiar to visitors, town natives, and tourists alike.

“My son Jacob Spence is finishing up becoming an Eagle Scout with Troop 1 Greenville,” wrote Jacob’s dad, Jim Spence. “He is doing his Eagle Scout service project at the Johnston Memorial Park as we are Johnston residents and he grew up going to the park. He has installed a map kiosk for the nature trail and has marked the trails in order to bring attention to the trail and make it easier for people to use it.”

According to Jim Spence, the project is in its “final stages” of completion.
