DeFeo, John Joseph

John Joseph DeFeo, 75, passed away on May 23, 2024 at his home in Warwick, RI. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late John and Jeanne (Ruehle) DeFeo.

 At age 18, John was in the Army spending most of his time after basic training in Viet Nam.  He drove in the 563rd Transportation Co.  John received the National Defense Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Good Conduct Award, a Bronze Star and a Commendation Medal for heroism in action while engaged in hostile forces in Viet Nam. He also received numerous good driving awards and sharpshooter certificates.

 John loved country music, loved to buy, sell and swap items; drove at Seekonk Speedway and won.  He also submitted cars he repaired to various car shows receiving a 2nd place award for a car not yet finished. John loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and rode them since he could drive. Before retiring, John was one of the best auto mechanics in the area. He later bought, fixed and sold lawn mowers.

 John was predeceased by his daughter, Jeanne Leite DeFeo,  his son John A DeFeo, his sister, Judith Walsh of Coventry and his brother, Robert DeFeo of Maine. 

 John leaves behind his three sisters: Donna DeFeo and Sandra McCoombs of Warwick and Diane DeFeo of Cranston.  He leaves one brother, James DeFeo of Warwick and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 A Military Burial for John will take place on Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, RI. 

 Rest in peace, Johnny, until we meet again.  We love and miss you more than words can say.
