Having been selected as one of three schools in the state as a “Disney Musical in Schools,” Norwood School was given the opportunity to select from Disney productions and have the rights and scripts to produce a show. This also provides teachers and students to receive theatrical instruction from professional artists. The award provided scripts for 30 students. In addition, 11 students were named as crew who worked on sets. The school will be performing “Finding Nemo” at the Performing Arts Center on June 3. Weekly rehearsals of 2 hours each started in January and will conclude next Wednesday. Norwood Principal Sabrina Antonelli attributed the program to a reduction in student absenteeism. Under the program, she said, the school will have the rights to 30 scripts to a Disney show next year and a 50 percent reduced script cost the following year. This scene is from last Friday’s performance at the school.
