That section of Beach Avenue between West Shore Road and Bellman Avenue was transformed into a bazaar of fine arts and a musical esplanade Saturday. The occasion was the second annual Conimicut Village Arts Festival. Joanne Miller, co-chair of the festival, said there was a steady turnout of visitors and that the 14 vendors reported that it was a success. She said staging the festival cost between $2,000 and $3,000 and that once ex- penses are paid about $500 will go back to the Conimicut Village Association. The pur- pose of the festival, she explained, is to introduce the village to more people and to get more artists and restaurants in Conimicut, which is happening. “The Conimicut Village Association is really coming alive,” she said. About 20 new members joined the associa- tion. As for one of the biggest hits of the festival in addition to Mary Day who performed in the afternoon it had to be Santa Paul, retired Warwick Fire Department Lieutenant Paul Evans, who was in his Christmas best and signing copies of his book, “Please, Just Leave the Glass.” (Beacon Media photos)
